PROJECTS

My project management experience includes time as both a dedicated project manager and a team member within healthcare and research settings--usually leading multiple projects simultaneously.

Review details regarding some of those projects below.

Behavioral Health Treatment Center - Special Projects

I received 3+ years of executive healthcare administration experience as the Associate Executive Director. In addition to the oversight of daily operations, I managed special projects designed to meet patient needs more efficiently by improving the effectiveness and quality of healthcare services, operations, and delivery systems and by reducing costs. I served as the liaison between the Executive Board and staff, while also working as a key member of the Management Team.

Special projects to improve operations, administration, services, and client satisfaction, included (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Expansion to second treatment site location;

  • Migration to integrated practice management system;

  • Improved revenue management and introduced new repayment options, reducing outstanding accounts receivable (which also improved payroll issues);

  • Streamlined payroll process, eliminating redundancies and extraneous staff, improving accuracy and timeliness;

  • Created employee handbook, standard operating procedures, and internal communications strategy

I began my tenure with CTE working on the Life Experiences Assessment Project (LEAP), which examined risk factors that increase vulnerability to PTSD  following exposure to traumatic events.

While working with LEAP, a mass shooting occurred at NIU on February 14, 2008, ending with 21 wounded and 6 killed. The NIU Trauma Study (NTS) was launched in response to this tragedy.

Additional sub-studies to NTS were developed, including the Clinical Reappraisal Study and the Expressive Writing Study (EWS). EWS investigated whether physiological reactivity, salivary cortisol changes, and self-reports of emotional avoidance during a writing and reading protocol are predictive of long-term outcomes in adustment, and whether this varies as a function of severity of exposure to a mass shooting.

Responsibilities with CTE include:

  • Project Director, CTE:  Directed program for funded longtiduinal research, including monitoring and control of different phases; oversight of operational and administrative functions; data management, analysis, and reports; online survey and database programming (Perl); participant scheduling and reimbursement; and staff training and supervision.

  • Project Director, EWS:  Contributed to initiation, development and planning, implementation, and monitoring for EWS. Responsible for project management of biophysiological substudy, including oversight of operational and administrative functions; participant scheduling and interviews; physiological data collection; data management, analysis, and reports; and staff training and supervision.

  • Research Assistant, LEAP, NTS, & Clinical Reappraisal Study: Reviewed and contributed to grant applications. Recruited and scheduled participants. Compiled, entered, analyzed, and reported data. Supervised undergraduate research assistants. Contributed to initiation, planning, implementation, and execution of program sub-studies. Administered clinical interviews. Collected and tracked cortisol genetic samples. Processed materials and reimbursements.

As a Research Consultant, I was responsible for project oversight and management of data operations for the funded Sex Offender Screening & Risk Assesssment Program within the Department of Corrections.

This program examined an explanatory model of sexual assault and abuse while evaluating sex offenders' recidivism risk through the use of comprehensive record sets (e.g., interviews, background checks, court/police records, risk assessments, psychological evaluations, medical records).

Biobehavioral Research Lab - University of Arkansas, Little Rock

As the Lab Coordinator, I managed operational and administrative functions of ongoing projects, facility space, and equipment. I also prepared data materials, recruited and scheduled participants, collected data, programmed computer research tools, served as a liaison between research and IT personnel, conducted literature reviews, and wrote manuscripts.
